córdoba
We flew into Madrid (after a fun night in Dublin thanks to a long layover) and took a train to Córdoba. The city was founded by the Romans then conquered by the Moors and was at one time one of the largest and most culturally significant cities in the world. Our favorite destination in Cordoba was the Mezquita, a Mosque-turned-Cathedral. It is an awesome sight: beholding an old Cathedral within the walls of a much older grand Mosque. In our free time, we visited an interesting museum about the history of bull fighting in Spain. And on our last evening in Cordoba, we attended a spectacular flamenco performance in a small venue.
